We stumbled across Unelmaa while at Brighton in 2014, during a we-hate-university meltdown, where we would look for plots of land for sale across the world and nearly buy them with our student loan, before panicking about our futures and ordering a takeaway instead.
Unelmaa is a Finnish company which sells very small plots of land in the Artic Circle. You can pick your plot from their list – even buy two next to each other – and put up a tipi or build a small cabin. It’s situated in Salla, self-titled as ‘the middle of nowhere’; it has a ski resort, a reindeer park and even husky sledding.
We’ve been close to buying one of their plots on many occasions over the past year, and we haven’t ruled it out for the future. A place in the middle of the Lapland forest, where we can sit around our campfire after a day of playing with reindeer? It’s definitely on the wishlist.
